Copyright is defined as the
right of an author or his assignee, under statute, to print and publish
his literary or artistic work, exclusively of all other persons. This
right may be had in maps, charts, engravings, plays, and musical
compositions, as well as in books.
Copyright can be displayed in a number of ways. It can be written as
a 'c' with a circle around it (©),
or the word copyright or the abbreviation Copr. Whatever form is used,
the symbol or abbreviation should be followed by the name of the
copyright holder and the year of first publication.

How to enter the ©

To enter the copyright symbol on your keyboard, you need to enter
the
ALT code 0169. Simply follow these simply instructions for entering the
keyboard copyright symbol ©:

Ensure that the the Num Lock key has been pressed to activate
the numeric key section of the keyboard

Press the Alt key

While the
Alt key is held down, type the sequence of numbers 0169

Once you release the Alt key, the copyright character will appear

On a laptop computer, there usually
is no numeric keypad. To add the copyright symbol to documents using a laptop,
press the Fn (function) key, then the Alt key, then the numerical code
sequence 0169 (©)
