Iris |
These flowers
bring a message of hope and pleasure. The Iris is a symbol
of the Greek god Irises who was said to transport the soul
of the dead to the underworld |
Iron |
Iron is symbolic
of power. In some cultures (Chinese, Egyptian and Islam)
Iron is believed to be symbolic of darkness and evil. In
English, the term 'a rod of iron' is used to describe a
leader, teacher, employer or even parent who is strict and
inflexible |
Ivory |
Ivory is a
symbol of purity and often associated with the Virgin Mary.
Many Christian crosses were made of Ivory. To live in an
'Ivory Tower' is used to describe a person who is detached
from the real world |
Ivy |
Patience,
understanding, steadfastness, and loyal friends are
indicated by this symbol. It is also however considered a
symbol of death as the Ivy plant takes essential water from
trees causing them to die |
